What to redact

Remove anything that could identify you. Here's a side-by-side example of what a resume looks like before and after redaction.

• Names (yours, your references, your school)
• Photo or headshot (any image of you embedded in the document)
• Addresses (home, barangay, company locations)
• Phone number (mobile or landline)
• Email address (personal or work)
• Profile links (LinkedIn, portfolio, GitHub, or any URL that has your name in it)
• Previous employer details (company names, departments, or anything that identifies where you worked)
• Exact dates (specific year ranges at a company or school can narrow down who you are, especially if the team was small)
• Specific tools or systems (proprietary software, internal platforms, or anything niche enough to trace back to a company)
• Review everything
